Introduction

At the graduate university study in Business Economics, majoring in Business Informatics, students expand and deepen their knowledge of business information systems, new and existing information and communication technologies, and become familiar with new methods and tools for creating business software. They also expand their knowledge in the application of information technologies in specific business processes and functions as well as jobs and processes in the public sector. The content provides competences for managing complex information systems, designing and managing computer networks, creating modern management information systems based on new business intelligence, and applying electronic business. The study also enables the acquisition and expansion of knowledge from other disciplines of business economics, which, in addition to specialized knowledge in the field of information and communication technology, will make them competent for the tasks of management and leadership, designing and strategic planning of information systems and the development of new business activities based on the use of information and communication technology.

Upon completion of the graduate university study in Business Economics, majoring in Business Informatics, students will be able to:

  1. Analyze user requirements and design an information system model for managing organizational data, including process analysis and data visualization;
  2. Analyze a problem for which a software solution needs to be developed, design a software solution and develop a usable software solution;
  3. Model a segment of the real world into a relational database model and, based on the model, create a relational database and manage data in the relational database;
  4. Propose a machine learning model for various business problems using techniques of supervised, unsupervised learning or learning by rules;
  5. By using computer support, analyze data of an economic nature by selecting appropriate analytical methods, draw conclusions and create reports;
  6. Analyze innovations, propose and create optimization and non-optimization business process simulation models.

Teaching at the study is conducted over 4 semesters. The distribution of ECTS credits is indicated below:

  • 30 ECTS credits are acquired in six compulsory courses that are offered in all majors that have a common content and cover the areas of managerial economics, research methods, leadership, project management, controlling and strategic management. With these courses, most of the joint learning outcomes of all majors are achieved.
  • 90 ECTS are distributed among majors, and the distribution of ECTS credits across semesters is made as follows:
  • In the first semester:
    • 15 ECTS credits are acquired through the common content in all majors (three courses) in the field of managerial economics, research methods and leadership.
    • 15 ECTS credits are distributed among the compulsory courses of the major.
  • In the second semester:
    • 10 ECTS credits are acquired through the common content in all courses (two courses) in the field of project management and controlling.
    • 20 ECTS credits are distributed among the compulsory courses of the major.
  • In the third semester:
    • 5 ECTS credits are acquired through the common content of all majors (one course) in the field of strategic management.
    • 25 ECTS credits are distributed among the major content, namely:
      • 11 ECTS credits for compulsory course content (3 courses).
      • 14 ECTS credits for elective course content (predictably up to 3 courses).
  • In the fourth semester
    • 15 ECTS credits are acquired through the diploma thesis
    • 15 ECTS credits are distributed among the elective course content, which can be completed in one of the following ways or in a combination of the following ways:
      • through major elective courses.
      • through university elective courses (only if the schedule permits it)
      • through courses from the ERASMUS+ mobility program or other types of mobility programs at other universities in accordance with the student’s approved study plan.
      • through student professional practice.
