The Faculty of Economics in Osijek stands out as one of the oldest faculties and higher education institutions not only in Osijek, but also in the wider area of Slavonia and Baranja. Its history has deep-rooted connections with the founding of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek. Its establishment in 1961 served as an upgrade to the activities of the Center for Economic Studies of the University of Zagreb, with significant support from the then economy, the Chamber of Economy and local and regional government institutions. From the very beginning, the Faculty pursued the ambition of becoming an autonomous, modern institution of high competitiveness and quality that is in line with European and world standards of teaching and scientific research work.
Our students, alumni of the Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek, represent our greatest success. Today, they occupy various positions in the economy, state administration and local and regional self-government, not only within the region, but also throughout Croatia.
The foundation of the Faculty’s strength lies primarily in highly educated and motivated faculty members and scientists who are the key drivers of all key activities at the Faculty. Their commitment is additionally supported by the engagement of associate professors and guest lecturers who are recognized experts from the business world. The dynamics of young faculty members and the experience of older generations make it a valuable resource for the future development of the Faculty.
During its more than 60 years of existence, the Faculty has adapted to changing external circumstances. Today, the Faculty provides the entire educational vertical, from undergraduate to doctoral studies. Thanks to the resources and a large number of qualified faculty members, the Faculty develops high-quality study programs that continuously expand in depth and breadth. A versatile selection of elective courses allows students to tailor the program to their own interests and preferences.
The element that particularly enriches the Faculty are the various opportunities it offers to its students: a wide range of study programs at all levels of education, various extracurricular activities to develop skills and increase employability, cooperation at the national and international level with higher education institutions and business operators through scientific and professional projects and mobility through the Erasmus+ program. The Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek has bilateral cooperation agreements with a number of European universities, including the University of Vienna, University of Business in Prague, Universitat Augsburg, HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management, Pforzheim University, University of Malaga, Murcia University, Kaposvar University, University of Pecs, University of Bari Aldo Moro and Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen.

MISSION
The Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek is a higher education scientific institution, which, through the educational process and scientific research work in the field of economics and business economics, creates competent individuals capable of dealing with the various challenges of the environment. We adopt scientific achievements, critically evaluate them and create new knowledge through scientific and research work in the field of economics and related sciences with the aim of developing the environment. We are a socially responsible, innovative and open institution with high academic values and ethical principles that ensures equality and prosperity for its employees, students and society as a whole.

The vision of the Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek is to be an institution recognized for excellence, innovation and creativity in education, scientific and research work in the field of economics and business economics, as well as contribution to the social community at the regional, national and international level.
The Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek, founded in 1961, stands out as one of the oldest educational institutions in the region of Osijek, Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem. In addition, its history is closely intertwined with the establishment of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek. Its creation is the result of an initiative supported by the business community, chambers of commerce and local and regional authorities of the time.
Since it began its activities as a Center for Economic Studies under the auspices of the University of Zagreb in 1959, the Faculty has been strongly focused on researching the challenges of regional development and business organizations. In its first year of operation, it attracted 293 students, and in 1961 it was transformed into an independent Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek.
Since the establishment of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in 1975, the Faculty has become an integral part thereof. Its four-year curriculum, which was approved by the National Council for Higher Education in 1997, included majors in Financial Management and Marketing Management. This education offer adequately met the needs for qualified staff in the economy of this area, which was going through a challenging period at the time.
In 2021, the Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek began to implement a new undergraduate program in Business Economics and Economics, and from 2023, revised graduate studies that were modeled after the best business schools in the area, in discussion with experts from Prague, alumni and students themselves.
With its vision and mission, the Faculty aspires to become an autonomous, modern institution that stands out for European and world quality in research and teaching. Its commitment to excellence in these areas is reflected as a key factor in the progress and competitiveness of the society in which he operates. Considering the rich tradition and intellectual potential, the Faculty is clearly profiled as a support for the development of the economy of the region and the entire Republic of Croatia in the future.
