Research on Innovative ICT Approaches in the Context of Sustainable Digital Transition of Business Systems - DITRA
Acronym:
DITRA
Project title in English:
Research on Innovative ICT Approaches in the Context of Sustainable Digital Transition of Business Systems
Project code:
581-UNIOS-14
The project "Research into Innovative ICT Approaches in the Context of Sustainable Digital Transition of Business Systems" focuses on the development of scientifically based models that help organisations make informed decisions during digital transformation. The project integrates advanced methods of machine learning, simulation modelling, and business process analysis in the healthcare, finance, and creative industry sectors.
Activities include the collection and analysis of structured and unstructured data, the development of predictive models to assess organisational resilience, the simulation of healthcare processes through BPMN and discrete-event simulations, and the use of large language models for processing textual data. A special focus is placed on small and medium-sized enterprises and their ability to adapt to digital challenges.
The project combines qualitative and quantitative research methods with the aim of building applicable and interpretable models. Results include the publication of scientific papers, the completion of a doctoral dissertation, the development of models and methodologies that can be replicated in various organisational contexts, and the strengthening of research capacities among young scientists.
The expected contribution includes an increase in scientific excellence, digital research competencies, and an understanding of the concrete effects of digital technologies on business processes and organisational resilience.
The main objectives of the project are:
  1. To identify and evaluate innovative ICT approaches that enable the efficient and sustainable transformation of business processes
The project plans to investigate contemporary information technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced analytics, and to analyse their impact on improving the efficiency, agility, and sustainability of business processes, with a specific focus on applications in the creative industry, healthcare, and finance. The evaluation will be based on scientific criteria and practical examples from the economic domain.
  1. To conduct empirical research on the use of ICT in business entities and to develop predictive models of digital transformation, with the aim of supporting strategic decision-making in the digital transformation process
By combining collected data and simulation approaches, simulation and predictive models will be developed to enable better strategic decision-making related to managing digital changes within organisations.
  1. To establish and develop cooperation with a related scientific-research institution in the project field
The project includes the establishment and development of cooperation with domestic or foreign scientific-research institutions engaged in related research in the domain of the digital transformation of business entities (both economic and non-economic). The goal is the exchange of knowledge and the possibility of joint publications.
The success of project implementation is measured through the achievement of concrete scientific results, aligned with the project's objectives and programme indicators.
Expected measurable results:
D1. Developed overview and categorisation of contemporary ICT solutions and methodologies in the field of digital transition (min. 1)
D2. Developed predictive machine learning models based on real or simulated data (min. 4)
D3. Simulation model and analysis of various scenarios (min. 1)
D4. Scientific papers prepared and submitted for publication – minimum 0.25 FTE per year (min. 10)
D5. Defended doctoral dissertation in the field of machine learning application or simulation modelling (min. 1)
D6. Achieved cooperation with a domestic or foreign partner institution through the publication of scientific papers (min. 3)

The list of scientific papers produced within the DITRA project will be updated in accordance with the publication schedule.
