The Department of Biology and the Faculty of Economics at the University of Osijek have developed a unique, interdisciplinary lifelong learning program called "BIOENTREPRENEURSHIP - green concepts in business". This program is designed for individuals who want to develop their entrepreneurial skills and integrate them with biological insights and the principles of sustainable business.
The BIOPRENEURSHIP program is designed to encourage participants to shift their focus from traditional biology to biology integrated with entrepreneurship, creating the foundation for the development of new production technologies and innovative entrepreneurial initiatives. The main goal of the program is to support participants in self-actualization, transforming them into entrepreneurial individuals who, through their actions, contribute to the development of a competitive and sustainable economy.
The program is primarily aimed at master's degree holders and engineers from the biological, biomedical, biotechnical, and related sciences, However, it is also open to anyone who wants to improve their entrepreneurial competencies, regardless of whether they want to start their own entrepreneurial venture or simply strengthen their entrepreneurial and business skills.
The program launched in April 2024 with its first cohort of participants, who successfully completed the program by presenting their project and business ideas and the business plans they developed based on them. All participants noted that the program had fully met their expectations. and enabled them to acquire new knowledge and skills, primarily those related to entrepreneurship. This is an excellent example of interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty, which is becoming essential for progress in the complex and uncertain world we live in.
