The fifth Career Day, titled „An Unconventional Career,“ was held at the Faculty of Economics in Osijek, organized by EFOS and the student association AIESEC. This year, the event once again provided students with the opportunity to gain practical knowledge, develop skills, and connect with employers from various sectors.
The program included a lecture by Stjepan Šmit, owner of the company Šmit electronic d.o.o., who presented the White Shark brand and, through his own experience, showed students how personal development intertwines with brand and business development.
A panel discussion titled „Career – Plan, Chance, or Opportunity?“ was also held, featuring representatives from various sectors: Vladimir Ham (HNK Osijek), Laura Gergelj (D-invoice), and Goran Bošković (Breza Association). Through their conversation, they emphasized that their career paths were not predetermined but rather developed through exploration, changes, and the pursuit of their own direction. In doing so, they sent a message to students that changing career paths is not a failure but an integral part of professional development.
In addition, six workshops were held, offering students concrete insights into various career paths and hiring processes:
- Make it happen: an interview that can lead to a job – Venera Matoš (Raiffeisenbank Croatia)
- Peek behind the scenes of hiring – from application to interview – Maria Šurina (Croatian Post Bank)
- How to start a career as a bookkeeper – Laura Gergelj (D-invoice)
- Similarities and differences in leadership styles in sports and banking Katarina Maloča Mrčela (Slatinska Bank)
- Banking as a Strong Support for the Economy: Solutions for Complex Financial Challenges – Davor Šimundža (Slatinska banka)
- What does it mean to work in the non-profit sector? Dokkica, Green Osijek, and the Center for Nonviolence and Human Rights
A special part of the event consisted of exhibition booths featuring numerous representatives from the business, public, and civil sectors, including the Croatian Red Cross, PRONI Center for Social Education, Forvis Mazars, Osatina, Croatian Postbank, DKolektiv, DOKKICA, Raiffeisenbank Croatia, Center for Peace, Nonviolence and Human Rights, Transcom, D-Invoice, Zagrebačka banka, Center for Missing and Abused Children, Hemco, OTP banka Croatia, the Association for Nature and Environmental Protection Zeleni Osijek, Escape, Udruga Breza, H&MV Engineering, Udruga Slagalica, and AIESEC.
Students had the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from organizations, ask questions, learn about employment and internship opportunities, and receive valuable firsthand advice.
EFOS Career Day once again confirmed its role as an important meeting point for students and internships, encouraging them to actively reflect on their own career path and the opportunities available to them.
