Mia Cirkveni was born on 31 January 1990 in Osijek. In 2013, she completed her graduate studies in English and German Language and Literature – teaching major at the Faculty of Philosophy in Osijek, and was immediately employed at the Helen Doron school for early English learning in Osijek. In 2014, she was employed in Belgium as an English language teacher on a summer course at the Language Center Ruysschaert in Torhout and Maredsous. Attending an internationally recognized teacher training and certification program moderated and accredited by Cambridge Assessment English (UK), she received the Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) diploma in 2015. From late 2014 to February 2016, she worked in the Second Gymnasium in Osijek, the Ivan Brnjik Slovak Elementary School in Jelisavac, and the Vukovar Gymnasium. From February to September 2016, she worked as a volunteer for the association Kirkelig Undervisningsforbung in Oslo, Norway through the Erasmus program European Voluntary Service (EVS). In October 2016, she was employed at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek as an English language assistant at the Department of Interdisciplinary Courses, where she participates in teaching. In October 2018, at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek, she was elected to the position of lecturer in the scientific field of Humanities, the scientific field of linguistics, the scientific branch of English, where she teaches Business English courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In 2021, she obtained her doctorate in science by defending her doctoral dissertation entitled “Students’ Career Adaptability and Entrepreneurial Intentions: The Mediating Role of Emotional Regulation and Control”. She strives for continuous professional and scientific improvement through international seminars, workshops and conferences in the field of professional foreign language, statistics, methodology and didactics. She is involved in translation of professional and scientific works. She speaks English, German and Spanish, and is a member of the Croatian Association of LSP Teachers at Higher Education Institutions (UNJSVU), the Croatian Association of Teachers of English (HUPE), and the Interdisciplinary Organization for Telecollaboration and Virtual Exchange in Higher Education (UniCollaboration).
