
The Faculty of Economics in Osijek, a constituent part of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, is organizing an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) titled Category Management, which will be held in virtually on April 27, 2026., while physical part of the program hold at the Faculty of May 4-8, 2026. in Osijek. The program bears 3 ECTS credits and intended primarily undergraduate students.
BIP Category Management It focuses on contemporary supply chains and vertical marketing systems, providing participants with a comprehensive insight into the concepts, roles, and benefits of category management in retail and wholesale environments. The program covers the entire product category management process – from defining and evaluating the category, through managing assortment and shelf space, to setting prices and promotions – with an emphasis on data, technology, omnichannel retail, and collaboration with suppliers and category captain partners.
The virtual program component will be held April 27, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and will be dedicated to an introduction to product category management, the role of category management in marketing and retail, the presentation of the course structure, and familiarizing participants with the group task and how to work during the program.
The physical part of the program will be held at the Faculty of Economics in Osijek from May 4-8, 2026. During the five-day program, students will cover topics such as the development and terminology of category management, category management in modern supply chains, the phases of the category management process, category analysis, assortment and sales space management, pricing, the application of technology and omnichannel approaches, and employee and supplier collaboration in the implementation of category management. The program also includes workshops, simulations, case study analysis, group work, a visit to a Croatian retail and logistics company, and final student presentations.
Program coordinates Professor, Doctor of Science. Davor Dujak, and the Faculty of Economics in Osijek, partner higher education institutions are also participating in the implementation The University of Logistics is based in Poznań (Poland) and Eötvös József College Baja (Hungary).
Participants will develop analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills in an international and intercultural environment during the program. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to analyze category management activities in contemporary retail marketing and logistics, apply appropriate methods and techniques in the category management process, design category strategies and tactics, and critically evaluate the application of category management in selected retail companies, including physical and omnichannel retail.
The deadline for applications is April 24, 2026.
Applications for mobility funding are submitted through the home institution, while selected participants will receive all additional organizational and practical information by email.

The BIP Category Management focuses on modern supply chains and vertical marketing systems, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the concepts, roles, and benefits of category management in both retail and wholesale environments. The program covers the full category management process, including category definition and evaluation, assortment and space management, and pricing and promotions, with particular attention to data, technology, omnichannel retailing, and collaboration with suppliers and category captains.
The virtual component, scheduled for April 27, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, will introduce participants to the fundamentals of category management, its role in marketing and retailing, the course structure, and the expected learning process. It will also serve as an opportunity to present the group assignment, clarify expectations, and support the formation of student teams for collaborative work during the program.
The physical component will take place at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek, starting on May 4 to 8, 2026. Over the course of five days, participants will explore topics such as the emergence and terminology of category management, category management in contemporary supply chains, the stages of the category management process, category analysis, assortment and store space management, pricing, omnichannel and technology in category management, and the role of employees and suppliers in supporting category decisions. The program also includes workshops, simulations, case-based learning, collaborative project work, a visit to a Croatian retail and logistics company, and final student presentations.
The program is coordinated by Prof. Davor Dujak, and is organized in cooperation with partner institutions: Higher School of Logistics in Poznań, Poland, and Eötvös József College Baja, Hungary.
Throughout the program, participants will develop analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills in an international and intercultural academic environment. Upon completion, students will be able to analyze category management activities in contemporary retail marketing and logistics, apply and justify relevant methods and techniques used in the category management process, design category strategies and tactics, and critically evaluate the implementation of category management in selected retail companies operating in both physical and omnichannel environments.
