Welcome to the Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek!
The Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek was founded in 1961 at the initiative of the local economy and authorities, and from its very beginning has been closely connected with the community in which it operates. Since then, the Faculty has been an active participant in the region’s development through education, research, and numerous projects.
As one of the founding members of the University of Osijek (established in 1975), the Faculty today holds an important place among the oldest and largest constituents of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek.
Our Faculty is a modern and dynamic institution that follows contemporary trends and continuously adapts its programmes to the needs of society and the labour market. Our mission is to educate competent, responsible, and innovative professionals who are ready to face the challenges of the global environment.We particularly foster and develop an entrepreneurial spirit and entrepreneurial competencies, encouraging students to think innovatively, recognise opportunities, and create new value in society. Our students and alumni successfully build their careers in various industries and sectors—private, public, and civil society—and their achievements are our greatest pride.
The strength of our Faculty lies in its people—professors, researchers, and all staff members—whose knowledge, enthusiasm, and work drive change, develop new content and projects, and create a stimulating environment for students.
We maintain close relations with the business sector. Representatives of the business community participate in the teaching process as guest lecturers, connecting theory and practice and helping students better understand real business situations and challenges.
In addition to high-quality undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programmes, we offer students numerous opportunities to engage in projects, student associations, research, and competitions. Our Faculty is a community where students feel supported and motivated for personal and professional development.

MISSION
The Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek is a higher education scientific institution, which, through the educational process and scientific research work in the field of economics and business economics, creates competent individuals capable of dealing with the various challenges of the environment. We adopt scientific achievements, critically evaluate them and create new knowledge through scientific and research work in the field of economics and related sciences with the aim of developing the environment. We are a socially responsible, innovative and open institution with high academic values and ethical principles that ensures equality and prosperity for its employees, students and society as a whole.
VISION
The vision of the Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek is to be an institution recognized for excellence, innovation and creativity in education, scientific and research work in the field of economics and business economics, as well as contribution to the social community at the regional, national and international level.
The Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek, founded in 1961, stands out as one of the oldest educational institutions in the region of Osijek, Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem. In addition, its history is closely intertwined with the establishment of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek. Its creation is the result of an initiative supported by the business community, chambers of commerce and local and regional authorities of the time.
Since it began its activities as a Center for Economic Studies under the auspices of the University of Zagreb in 1959, the Faculty has been strongly focused on researching the challenges of regional development and business organizations. In its first year of operation, it attracted 293 students, and in 1961 it was transformed into an independent Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek.
Since the establishment of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in 1975, the Faculty has become an integral part thereof. Its four-year curriculum, which was approved by the National Council for Higher Education in 1997, included majors in Financial Management and Marketing Management. This education offer adequately met the needs for qualified staff in the economy of this area, which was going through a challenging period at the time.
In 2021, the Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek began to implement a new undergraduate program in Business Economics and Economics, and from 2023, revised graduate studies that were modeled after the best business schools in the area, in discussion with experts from Prague, alumni and students themselves.
With its vision and mission, the Faculty aspires to become an autonomous, modern institution that stands out for European and world quality in research and teaching. Its commitment to excellence in these areas is reflected as a key factor in the progress and competitiveness of the society in which he operates. Considering the rich tradition and intellectual potential, the Faculty is clearly profiled as a support for the development of the economy of the region and the entire Republic of Croatia in the future.
