Dražen Novaković was born on March 14, 1990 in Vukovar. He lives in Osijek. He is married and has three children. He attended primary schools in Pula and Vukovar. After completing the general education course at the Vukovar Gymnasium, he enrolled in and completed the undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Economics in Osijek, majoring in Financial Management. He earned his Master of Economics degree in September 2013 upon completing the graduate studies in Financial Management at the Faculty of Economics in Osijek. He completed his postgraduate university (doctoral) studies in Economics at the Faculty of Economics, University of Zagreb in January 2021 with the defense of his doctoral dissertation entitled "Economic Effects of Mandatory Pension Insurance Based on Individual Capitalized Savings in the Republic of Croatia". For his doctoral dissertation, he received the "Dr. Pero Jurković" award from the Faculty of Economics, University of Zagreb for 2021 and the award of the Croatian Association of Accountants and Financial Professionals for 2021. After a short professional training for work as a professional advisor in the Project Implementation Department at the Croatian Employment Service, Vukovar Regional Office, since May 2014 he has been employed in the associate title of assistant at the Department of Finance and Accounting at the Faculty of Economics in Osijek. He has been employed at the same Department in the associate title of senior assistant (postdoctoral fellow) since February 2021, and in the scientific and teaching title of assistant professor since January 2025. He teaches several finance courses, and is an external associate at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics in Osijek. His area of scientific interest includes pension systems, portfolio theory, behavioral and corporate finance. He completed his pedagogical-psychological and didactic-methodical education at the Faculty of Educational Sciences in Osijek in 2016. He is a member of the Young Scientists Network (MLAZ), the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Economics in Osijek, and the Association of Accountants and Financial Workers in Osijek. He actively uses English as a foreign language.
