Osijek, May 7, 2025 – An important and historic decision was made at the Faculty of Economics in Osijek, Prof. Dr. Sc. Sunčica Oberman Peterka was elected the first deaness of the Faculty of Economics in Osijek, with which the Faculty Council recognized her long-standing contribution to science and higher education and opened a new chapter in the institution's history.
The former dean, prof. Boris Crnković, PhD, he stated on that occasion: „The election of Professor Oberman Peterka as dean is an important moment for our Faculty. She is a person who, through her scientific and professional work, dedication, and clear vision for development, contributes both to our academic environment and to the wider society. I believe her leadership will open new doors for collaboration, innovation, and international recognition for EFOS, with strong support for students, faculty, and industry partners.“
Prof. Dr. Sunčica Oberman Peterka is a tenured full professor with over two decades of experience at the Faculty of Economics in Osijek, where she has been active since 2000. She specializes in entrepreneurship and strategic management and is the head of the international interdisciplinary doctoral program in Entrepreneurship and Innovativeness. Since 2021, she has served as the Associate Dean for Community Engagement, International Cooperation, and Projects. Her research focuses on women's entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial education, authentic leadership, innovation, and management in the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector. She is an active member of the research team Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), which operates in Croatia under the UNESCO Chair for Entrepreneurial Education in cooperation with CEPOR, and is also one of the founders of the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Economics in Osijek. „I am grateful for the trust placed in me and for the honor of taking on the leadership of the Faculty of Economics in Osijek. I am aware of the responsibility this role carries, but also of the opportunity it provides to further position the Faculty as an excellent, open, and modern educational institution. My priority will be strengthening cooperation with the business community, the internationalization of study programs, the continuous improvement of teaching and research, and creating a stimulating and inclusive academic environment for our students and staff,“ stated the new dean., Professor, Doctor of Science Sunčica Oberman Peterka. Her election as dean marks the beginning of a new development cycle for the Faculty of Economics in Osijek – a faculty that has been building its identity for decades through excellence in education, scientific relevance, and strong ties to practice. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sunčica Oberman Peterka, EFOS is entering a new, ambitious chapter focused on innovation, internationalization, and an even stronger role in shaping the entrepreneurial future of Croatia and the region.
