Brain Week 2026 topics

Can't help falling in love (Love... I can't resist)
The topic of love is addressed from a neuroscientific and interdisciplinary perspective - through reward systems, the role of neurotransmitters and hormones, attraction, attachment, emotional pain, but also the impact of the digital environment and artificial intelligence on interpersonal relationships.

A brain that stays young
The second thematic unit focuses on brain aging and neuroprotection, with an emphasis on preserving cognitive functions throughout the lifespan, the role of sleep, movement, music, nutrition, and social relationships.

Ways of student participation

Students can get involved through:

  • participation with a lecture
I can sign up. all students, and the lectures should last 10 minutes and thematically fit (at least preferably) into one of the two main themes of Brain Week 2026.The fifteen best entries will be selected and included in the official schedule of lectures, which will be held on Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th March 2026.
  • designing and conducting educational workshops
The workshops are intended for children of preschool, primary and secondary school age, and their goal is to introduce neuroscientific topics in an understandable, interactive and age-appropriate way, encouraging curiosity, critical thinking and interest in science.
  • production of short educational video content (Reels)
A new format as part of Brain Week 2026, aimed at presenting interesting neuroscientific facts and phenomena related to the event's themes. Video content should be scientifically based, but designed in a creative, visually appealing and dynamic format close to younger generations and modern digital platforms. The ten best submitted ideas will be selected by the SenzOs scientific committee and realized in collaboration with members of the Section, through joint recording and editing of video content.
  • participating as a volunteer
Brain Week 2026 brings a series of public events, workshops and side activities, and students can also get involved as volunteers in the organization, logistics and implementation of the program. Volunteering provides an opportunity to gain organizational experience, teamwork and active involvement in public activities that bring neuroscience closer to the community.
