Call for students to submit papers for the HANFA Annual Student Award

The annual Hanfa award for students for the best scientific and professional papers aims to encourage young people to develop scientific thought in the field of economics and further improve cooperation with higher education institutions. The goal is to encourage the student community to become more familiar with developments in the financial markets on a practical level.

The Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (hereinafter: Hanfa) hereby announces to interested graduates or students a call for applications for the competition for the best student scientific and professional papers entitled "Annual Hanfa Award to Students for the Best Scientific and Professional Papers" for 2024.

The papers must address one of the suggested topics:

  • How demographic and macroeconomic influences affect pension systems: an analysis of challenges and perspectives
  • A critical review of financial system supervision: the role and perspective of consumer protection in the financial system
  • Transforming financial management: the impact of artificial intelligence on investment decisions and strategies
  • From zombie to growing market: how to attract investors in the long term and revive the Croatian capital market?
  • Digital currencies and the traditional financial system: love story or thriller breakup?

The call is intended exclusively for people who are students or graduates of one of the following studies:

· undergraduate and graduate university studies

· integrated undergraduate and graduate university studies or

· undergraduate professional study and specialist graduate professional study.

The professional paper is submitted in the form of a scientific article, in the form of an original scientific article, a review paper or a professional article.

Papers submitted via the link on Hanfa's website will be taken into consideration. until 4:00 p.m. on August 31, 2024.

The expert committee for the evaluation of works established within Hanfa (hereinafter: the Committee) will consider, review and evaluate all works that are submitted within the specified deadline and meet the conditions of the competition.

The Committee will propose, and the Hanfa Board of Directors will adopt, a Decision on the selection of the best professional papers.

The three best works will be awarded with cash prizes of 2,000.00 euros net for the best work, 1,300.00 euros net for the second-place work, and 650.00 euros net for the third-place work.

In the case of co-authorship, the prize is divided equally between the authors, with the number of co-authors limited to a maximum of three. If no work submitted to this call meets the Committee's criteria in terms of quality, the Committee has the right not to award any of the prizes. The decision of the Committee and the Hanfa Board of Directors will be published on Hanfa's website.

With this invitation, Hanfa intends to further improve cooperation with higher education institutions and encourage the student community to become more familiar with developments in the financial markets on a practical level. In addition to the above, this form of cooperation will enable students to interact with the regulatory body of the financial services sector in the Republic of Croatia. By directly gaining insight into the processes in the financial services market, students have the opportunity to improve their own creativity and develop scientific research and reasoning skills, as well as to upgrade the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies.
