Hello world!

The Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek offers students voluntary professional internships and a professional internship as an elective course in the 3rd year of the undergraduate study programme Economics and Business and in the 2nd year of the master's study programmes Applied Economics and Business, across all specialisations.

Voluntary professional internships arose as a result of cooperation with the Croatian Employers' Association and have been organised at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek since the 2013/2014 academic year. The duration of the voluntary professional internship is two weeks, and students can apply to complete the internship in February or between July and October.

The professional internship as an elective course lasts 120 hours, is conducted in the summer semester, according to the internship schedule, the academic calendar, and agreement with the employer. Student applications for the professional internship as an elective course are carried out during enrollment for the academic year (in September).

Students may independently propose a company in which they would like to complete an internship (voluntary or as an elective course), and in coordination with the Office for Students and Studies and the Office for Quality Improvement, secure all necessary documents and complete the procedure for the internship's realisation.

More information about the voluntary professional internship can be obtained by email at: quality@efos.hr.

ABOUT US

The Legal and Economic Clinic of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek was launched as a joint project of the Faculty of Law and Faculty Economics and Business in Osijek in 2013. The aim of the clinic is to enable students to acquire practical knowledge, as well as to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge. But, apart from that, this clinical method of education, modeled on clinical education in medicine, allows students to solve specific problems under the constant supervision of a mentor. Mentors in our Clinic are experts in the field of law and economics – professors, business advisors, lawyers, accountants, tax advisors, notaries, who work together to solve problems. Our Clinic is oriented towards the problems of small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, regardless of their activity or their legal form. All services, i.e. advice needed by entrepreneurs, are viewed from two angles – economic and legal, and in this way we are the only ones on the consulting services market to provide comprehensive advice. Considering that the problems that plague entrepreneurs are rarely exclusively of a legal or economic nature, this way of working and consulting greatly increases the possibility of solving complex problems that entrepreneurs encounter in their environment. In order not to compete with existing advisers, all the services we offer are completely free for all our users.

COOPERATION

The Legal and Economic Clinic participates in programmes implemented at the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, which are related to encouraging an entrepreneurial way of thinking and acting. At the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology in Osijek (FERIT), a project is being implemented that aims to enable the commercialisation of student projects, called PRO-STUDENT (http://pro-student.ferit.hr/partneri.php) in which the Legal and Economic Clinic is a partner offering its services to students and the opportunity to acquire new knowledge by working in a team with student Clinicians.

The Croatian Agency for Small Business and Investment (HAMAG BICRO) is implementing the project "Network of Student Business Incubators," in which the Legal and Economic Clinic, with all its mentors and students, is a partner and consultant to students across the Republic of Croatia who are developing their business ventures.

In the World Money Week and the European Money Week in 2016 and 2017, the Legal and Economic Clinic was a partner of the Croatian Chamber of Economy in organizing the Financial Literacy thematic conference. On that occasion, short lectures by experts from various financial institutions were organised, the aim of which was to increase the level of financial literacy of the students of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek. Through the organisation of such educations, the long-term plan is to systematically and permanently encourage learning and teaching related to the financial literacy of young people.

Today, volunteering is recognized as an important tool for acquiring experiences, knowledge, skills and basic competences for lifelong learning. Work experience and diverse competences acquired through volunteering increase employability, encourage mobility, and influence the increase in civic responsibility of individuals.

By encouraging volunteer work, the Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek wants to help students gain experience in solving problems in the real world, and teach them to recognize opportunities and be proactive, which are important components of every individual’s entrepreneurial behavior.

Enrollment in the volunteer base does not mean that EFOS volunteers have to participate in all the projects that are held, but in those that correspond to their preferences and volunteering time.

The following is expected from EFOS volunteers:

  • commitment to volunteer activities,
  • responsibility and reliability,
  • engagement according to one’s own capabilities,
  • teamwork.

What does volunteering bring to EFOS students?

  • developing organizational and communication skills through teamwork
  • improvement of own competences
  • efficient use of free time
  • tracking volunteer hours
    • registration of volunteer hours in the volunteer booklet
    • competing for the Dean’s Volunteering Award
