EFOS student Pejo Bosnić won first place in Hanfa's selection for the best scientific and professional papers in 2023.

Zagreb, January 12, 2024– The traditional ceremony of presenting the Hanfa Annual Student Award for the best scientific and professional papers for 2023 was held at the Hotel Dubrovnik in Zagreb. Among the best student papers in Croatia, the Faculty of Economics in Osijek had its representative for the third year in a row. Moreover, EFOS student Pejo Bosnić took the winning first place with his scientific paper on the topic "Pan-European personal pension savings as a new form of voluntary pension insurance" under the mentorship of Dr. sc. Dražen Novaković. Pejo had the opportunity to present his work to the audience during the award ceremony, which was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics in Osijek, Prof. dr. sc. Boris Crnković.

The Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (Hanfa), the umbrella organization for the supervision of financial markets, financial services and legal and natural persons providing these services, traditionally concluded its competition for the best scientific and professional papers with a ceremonial awarding of student awards at the Hotel Dubrovnik. Hanfa's primary goal was to deepen and improve cooperation with the domestic academic community and to encourage the student community to improve their own creativity and develop scientific research skills. Students were given the following topics to choose from for their scientific papers: The impact of inflation on the attractiveness of using non-banking financial services, Pan-European personal pension savings as a new form of voluntary pension insurance, InsurTech - potential for the insurance industry and its users, Decentralized finance - a threat or a catalyst for the development of financial services?, Predictive analytics in forecasting trends and making investment decisions, Digitalization and cybersecurity - challenges and opportunities.

After the great successes of EFOS students in 2021 and 2022, the third consecutive achievement of such a great result by student Peja Bosnić is another confirmation of the competitiveness of the Faculty of Economics in Osijek among the most respectable higher education institutions in Croatia. Of particular importance is the fact that EFOS is the only Croatian faculty that has had its representative among the top three students for three years in a row.

„"On behalf of the Faculty of Economics in Osijek and our entire community, I would like to sincerely congratulate Peja and his mentor Dr. Sc. Dražen Novaković on this great achievement. We are truly proud of the efforts of our young colleague and grateful for the opportunity to provide him, as well as all our other students, with the necessary knowledge, conditions and opportunities for personal and professional development through the academic path. We are also grateful that our competitiveness in this regard is recognized by Hanfa, which has confirmed the quality of our students' work for the third year in a row. We believe that this recognition will further motivate our students to continue striving for academic excellence, and such an approach to education will undoubtedly be followed by success in every aspect of future professional and social activity," said Prof. Dr. Sc. Boris Crnković, Dean of the Faculty of Economics in Osijek.
