Goal

The goal of this course is to enable students to gain a deeper understanding of contemporary tourism and to develop the ability to recognise and define the key elements that constitute tourism as a system. Throughout the course, the aim is to achieve a comprehensive grasp of tourism's role in the economic system and to analyse its developmental advantages and disadvantages.
Additionally, the fundamental business processes in the operations of hotels, travel agencies, transport and trade companies are explained so that students gain a comprehensive insight into the tourism sector. The role of tourist boards, ministries, and global organisations and associations in the context of tourism is also analysed.
Students are particularly encouraged to conduct systematic research in the field of tourism with the aim of familiarising themselves with the profession, discovering attractive resources in Croatia and globally, and identifying opportunities for further training and employment.

Economic, sociological, cultural, spatial, and ecological impacts of tourism traffic on the tourist receiving area. Temporal and spatial concentration in tourism.
  6. Characteristics of Croatia's tourist supply.
  7. The object of exchange in tourism – tourist service, tourist product. Introduction to the economic effects and functions of tourism.
  8. Characteristics of the labour force in tourism.
  9. Tourism as a system within the national economy. International and domestic organisations and professional associations operating in tourism.
  10. Organisation of tourism. Future development of tourism – opportunities and limitations.
