To present the basic structures of supply chains, and enable students to analyze individual supply chains and networks according to key factors of their efficiency and costs. To develop fundamental student skills in optimizing supply chain processes based on lean and agile approaches and understanding key business indicators for supply chain management activities.
1. Supply chain and supply chain management
2. Supply chain and network design
3. Central and direct distribution
4. Process approach to supply chain management
5. Implementation of a lean and agile supply chain
6. Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
7. Return logistics
8. Supply chain key performance indicators (KPIs)
9. Cost-to-Serve Model
10. Modeling to explore different impacts on the supply chain
After passing the course, the student will be able to:
1. compare and comment on the structures of different supply chains and networks with regard to their efficiency and costs,
2. choose the optimal distribution model for the distribution part of the supply chain, based on arguments, between centralized distribution and direct distribution,
3. distinguish between lean and agile approaches to supply chain activities,
4. recommend improvements in the process based on the created value stream maps,
5. review the adequacy of the reverse logistics process in the supply chain.
