The course focuses on the application of theoretical and methodological approaches in the analysis of economic geography (global economy and regional economic integration) and modern approaches to managing economic regions with special emphasis on the regional policy of the Republic of Croatia and the European Union.
1. Regional economy: Characteristics of space; Concept and importance of regional economy; Regional economic policy; Interregional economic relations; Possible regionalization approaches.
2. Regional growth, development, disproportions and convergence: Regional development and models for measuring regional disproportions; Types of convergence and instruments of regional policy; Supporting infrastructure of regional development.
3. Regional integration and regional policy: Regional integration; Motives and significance of regional integrations; Development of European integration; Relationship between global, integration and regional economic policy; Global regional disproportions and linear global economic processes; The place of regions and regional politics in the new economy; Basic issues of contemporary regional development.
1. Valorize the concept and significance of the regional economy and interregional economic relations.
2. Compare and classify types and instruments of regional economic policies and functionally connect them into conclusions about convergence within the European framework.
3. Critically assess the function, role and impact of European integration on member states.
4. Determine the complex policies of European integration and the national institutional framework and assess their impact on the competitiveness of economic branches and activities at the regional level.
5. Analyze the impact of contemporary trends and environmental phenomena on the regional economy.
