Goal

The content of this course is intended to offer students a theoretical and practical basis for understanding the process of business correspondence as a prerequisite for successfully translating and composing business letters and emails. It also aims to familiarise them with professional dictionaries specific to the field of economics – business correspondence. Through the analysis of different types of business letters, students will become familiar with their specific forms and contents (enquiry, offer, order, acknowledgement of order receipt, refusal of order, cancellation of order, contract, delivery note, invoice, reminder: delayed delivery, delayed payment, complaint). The course is designed to enable students to study, understand, and adopt the morphological, syntactic, and semantic specificities of the German language within the context of their profession/business correspondence. By translating vocabulary and phrases specific to each type of business letter and email, it aims to create the prerequisite for quick, correct, and successful translation of various types of business letters and emails from German to Croatian, and from Croatian to German, as well as the independent drafting of different types of business letters and emails in German.
