The aim of this course is to enable students to understand management as a process, specific management positions and professions relevant to different types of organizations and business environments. The course enables students to interpret historical developments and the latest theoretical approaches to management relevant to 21st century management. Students will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for the successful application of management principles, techniques and tools for planning, organizing, human resource management, leading, motivating and controlling operations. Students will also be able to evaluate the connection between the above-mentioned fundamental management functions and draw conclusions about their impact on organizational performance.

After completing the course, the student will be able to: comment on multiple perspectives of studying management as a process, management level and profession; distinguish the contribution of individual management theories to contemporary management practice; analyze key factors of the business and general environment and their role and impact on the operations of organizations in different contexts; apply planning techniques (e.g. Gantt chart); organization (e.g. organogram) and human resource management (e.g. selection and performance management), in accordance with the principles of socially responsible behavior; evaluate the applicability of different theoretical approaches to leadership and motivation in different contexts and conditions; calculate and interpret selected business performance indicators.
