Energy economics (Applied economics)

Goal

Within the scope of the course, students will acquire knowledge about energy economy; from the economic role of energy, energy sources and markets, explanations of the role of energy market regulation to the specifics of energy companies' operations and their need to develop new business strategies.

2. Energy sources: Renewable and non-renewable energy sources.
3. Energy markets. Characteristics of the energy market. Oil market. Natural gas market. Electricity market.
4. Energy policy and energy challenges. Energy policy goals in the context of global energy challenges. Liberalization and regulation of energy markets. Energy policy of the European Union. Energy Development Strategy of the Republic of Croatia.
5. Investments and investment projects in the energy sector.
