Goal

In the first part of the course, the area of capital structure and corporate financing decisions will be addressed, with an emphasis on the interaction between decisions on financing operating activities and capital investments. Within the course, participants will discuss different approaches in the area of management performance evaluation, corporate financing and capital structure decisions, financial restructuring, and other issues, and study relevant empirical works related to the course area.

After successfully completing this course, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

  1. Argumentatively discuss selected theoretical and empirical methods of contemporary corporate finance.
  2. Assess the adequacy of various sources of short-term and long-term financing, cash flows, and capital structure depending on the specific business situation.
  3. Assess the acceptability of a planned business venture by applying the methods covered in this course.
  4. Give a critical review and argumentatively discuss practical cases in the field of corporate finance.
