Goal

1. introducing students to the basic concepts and institutes of competition law and state aid law;
2. acquiring knowledge about legal regulation and modern institutes of market competition within the framework of Croatian and EU legislation;
3. distinction of fundamental institutes within the framework of competition law;
4. acquiring knowledge about protection methods within the framework of market competition

2. Competition law in the Republic of Croatia:
a) general issues, sources of competition law, when and why it arose, the Competition Agency, sectoral regulators
b) basic institutes and concepts of competition law: the concept of an undertaking, the relevant market, prohibited agreements, abuse of dominant position, concentrations
3. EU Competition Law (Competition Law) Articles 101 and 102 TFEU, Merger Regulation 139/04, Leniency Program, European Court of Justice case law
4. Competition law: special regulation (digital markets, intellectual property)
5. State aid in the EU and the Republic of Croatia

• define and distinguish between the concepts and institutes of competition law and state aid law
• identify and distinguish between forms of prohibited market competition (prohibited agreements, abuse of dominant position and prohibited concentrations of undertakings);
• connect the acquired knowledge about the basic institutes of competition law with the methods of their protection.
