The aim of the course is to refresh and acquire new knowledge and skills of oral and written communication in the field of German for business. Training students to work independently on professional texts in German, which implies knowledge of the structure of a professional text, an approach to understanding the text (reading strategies: global reading and selective reading). Familiarization with grammatical structures typical of the language of business and with business terminology. Developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in German for business with an emphasis on communication competences and skills in presenting professional content in German.
The framework topics in the second semester are the economy, economic sectors, types of companies, company organization, employment. Students read and interpret professional texts in a foreign language, and specifically learn professional vocabulary related to the framework topics. The grammatical and lexical structures of general German are repeated (word formation, Glagolitic tenses, passive voice) and grammatical and lexical structures typical of the German language of the business profession are indicated. The contents are oriented towards consolidating existing knowledge and providing the knowledge and skills necessary for the course of a professional foreign language at university.
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
1. define basic business terms, collocations and idioms in German and apply them in a given context
2. understand texts on business topics, identify key ideas and find specific information
3. use grammatical structures characteristic of level B1 of business German
4. achieve independent oral communication typical of general business situations
