12th International Scientific Symposium
“Region, Entrepreneurship, Development”

Dear Authors,

here are the instructions for presentations:

The presentation and oral presentation at the Symposium should be delivered in English language.

Presentation should focus on the following key features of the paper:

  • Objective(s) / Key research questions
  • Key model or theoretical framework used
  • Nature and source of data, including any key limitations of the methodology/methods used
  • Presentation of key findings – avoiding detailed discussion of statistical data
  • Conclusions and implications for research, policies or practitioners
  • Recommendations for future research.

The above list is more guidelines, and it is not necessary to cover all the above features. The purpose of the presentation is to stimulate discussion and debate rather than cover every detail of your paper.

The preferred presentation format is Microsoft PowerPoint with a maximum of 10 slides. The presentation should last for 10 minutes, plus an additional 5 minutes for discussion.

Simpozij RED – za razvoj zajednice treba ukloniti osobne interese

RED 2021 successfully was held online

Jubilee 10th International Scientific Symposium “Region, Entrepreneurship, Development” was held on June 17th, 2021 via ZOOM. This year conference gathered scientists and experts dealing with the development of the economy and society in 83 papers which were presented in three groups – region (26 papers), entrepreneurship (14 papers) and development (43 papers) in 10 parallel sessions. Participants came mainly from Croatia, but also from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Hungary, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Portugal and Russia.

On behalf of the Organizing committee of RED 2021 and also on behalf of Faculty of Economics in Osijek professor Sunčica Oberman Peterka, vice dean for academic affairs, presented the best conference paper for this year. It is a paper titled “The role of sophisticated technology in managing heritage-based tourism”, prepared by Ines Milohnić from Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Opatija and Dino Drpić from Polytechnic of Rijeka.

Professor Klaus Seiler, professor of Entrepreneurship at the Munich University of Applied Sciences and CEO of the Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship (SCE) had the interesting key note speech on “The role of Universities to build an entrepreneurial eco-system – Munich case study”. Professor Sailer is a co-founder and in board at Social Entrepreneurship Academia and also in board at Munich Network.

As prof. Oberman Peterka pointed out during opening speech, 10th anniversary of RED is happening in the same time as Faculty of Economics in Osijek is celebrating its´60 birthday. Unfortunately, this conference had to be organized according to the pandemic rules and without a significant part of networking, interaction, and social component at the conference.

As earlier issues of RED Conference Proceedings and this year issue will be submitted for inclusion in CPCI, Web of Science.

Before the Opening ceremony/sessions – Login to ZOOM and next to your name and surname, please add institution/affiliation (e.g. Katica Krizanovic, EFOS).

During the Opening ceremony/sessions:

During the sessions we advise you to have your microphone muted.

Basically, this should work out nicely if you have a solid internet connection, microphone (preferably headphones) and camera in your computer. Please try also to avoid unnecessary noise around you to keep the line clear.

Dear RED 2020 participants,

Hereby we proudly announce the publication of e-proceedings of the Symposium. Altogether 106 double-blind internationally reviewed papers, despite the corona crisis that forced us to cancel our live meeting, our scientific goal is met. Please find the online version of the proceedings HERE.

All participants will receive a print version of Book of abstracts, USB stick with proceedings and certificates of participation by mail.

The best paper award for RED 2020, according to reviewers’ evaluation goes to paper titled:

DETERMINANTS OF FIRM PROFITABILITY IN EASTERN CROATIA

authored by Irena Raguž Krištić, Marko Družić and Marija Logarušić from Faculty of Economics in Zagreb, Croatia.

The awarded authors are offered to participate in RED 2021 without fee.

IMPORTANT NOTICE – SYMPOSIUM FEE
Due to the fact that many of our reviews, especially international (Italy, Spain and others) are belated due to the corona situation, organizational committee has agreed that there will be no early bird/late bird fees. All participants with accepted papers pay a fee of 100 Euro plus VAT, except doctoral students, whose fee is 75 Euro + VAT. The deadline for payment is May 15th, 2020.

Dear RED 2020 participants, dear friends,

We hope you are all doing ok.

Unfortunatelly, due to the corona situation, we are forced to postpone our conference, hopefully to September.

However, we are doing our best  to organize the review process and prepare conference proceedings for all accepted papers.

Due to the situation, we decided to cut the conference fee by 50% within each category. The fees will be used for publishing requred number of proceedings and preparation of digital proceedings. Each author will receive a pdf proceedings. It will all be published by the time of original conference dates and sent for indexation.

We kindly ask you to follow the official conference website http://www.efos.unios.hr/red/  for further information. Any significant changes will be e-mailed to you.

Dear colleagues, participants of previous GIH symposiums and dear friends,

It is our utmost pleasure to contact and inform you with the latest news and information about our next year Symposium.

First of all, we’d like to thank you for the participation and scientific inputs, as well as for excellent evaluation of GIH 2019 you provided in post-conference questionnaire.

We have carefully analyzed previous GIH symposiums and concluded that the event has outgrown its name – last year, less then 20% of presented and published papers were dealing with Eastern Croatia. On the other hand, the Symposium name turned out to be a limitation in  building a more international profile of the conference. Therefore, we decided to change the name of the symposium, from GIH  to RED. The new name comes from keywords representing our focus: Region, Entrepreneurship, Development. However, we intend to keep one of the tracks dedicated to specific issues related to Eastern Croatia.

Hereby, we’d like to invite your further support and participation in RED 2020, which will take place at Faculty of Economic in Osijek, June 4 -5, 2020.

Within next two weeks more information on tracks, abstracts, fees and other issues will be available.
