Dabar (Digital Academic Archives and Repositories) is an important component of the data layer of national e-infrastructure, a system that enables all higher education and/or research institutions to easily set up and maintain reliable and interoperable institutional repositories. It enables the research community to establish thematic repositories and archives.

Digital repository gathers and permanently stores results of scientific, intellectual and creative property of a certain institution (institutional repository) or materials in the same scientific field (thematic repository). Digital repository increases visibility, frequency of citation and transparency of the institution. Furthermore, it accelerates information sharing in the scientific and academic community. Materials stored in a digital repository are permanently protected from loss.
